Nathalie Buce
Senior Texture Artist
My last position as a Senior Texture Painter was at Sony Imageworks Vancouver on Angry Birds.
Prior to this I enjoyed working in Sydney for Dr D Studios on “Happy Feet 2”.
Before Dr D, DreamWorks Animation gave me the opportunity as Senior Surfacer and Groomer to be part of the making of animated features such as How To Train Your Dragon. I was fortunate to be on the show early in the production with the exciting task of developing the CG hair and fur looks used throughout the movie. I also setup the surfacing/grooming pipeline for the generic Vikings.
Some earlier projects at DreamWorks Animation were Over The Hedge and later Flushed Away for which I was tasked to come up with the look of the CG plasticine. Aardman, but especially Peter Lord were very particular about the feel of their famous British plasticine. It had to be translated properly into CG.
Previous to DreamWorks, I was part of Cinesite London's 3D department for over seven years and was eventually promoted to head the Texturing department. There, I worked on live action features such as Tomorrow Never Dies; Lost in Space; The Avengers; Tomb Raider and was the Texture supervisor for The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.
I received an MA in Computer Animation from Bournemouth University (UK) - I studied graphic design at The Royal Academy of Arts in Brussels and Photography at the Ecole de Photographie de la Ville de Bruxelles; Belgium being my native country.
